2025 USPOULTRY Live Production, Welfare and Biosecurity Seminar to Tackle Key Challenges in Live Production
The 2025 USPOULTRY Live Production, Welfare and Biosecurity Seminar will equip poultry professionals with practical tools and insights to address production efficiencies, welfare and biosecurity best practices. Scheduled for Sept. 25-26 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown in Nashville, Tenn., this seminar aims to address ongoing concerns that the poultry industry faces.
“Improving efficiency, welfare and biosecurity remains a top priority in live production. Attendees will gain up-to-date tools, resources and strategies to better manage operations and biosecurity protocols, while supporting the health of broilers, layers, turkeys and ducks,” said Shelley Harless, animal health and welfare manager at Peco Foods and planning committee chair.
The seminar will gather industry managers, veterinarians and scientists to address key issues shaping grow-out operations. Discussions will cover an immigration update, highly pathogenic avian influenza, avian metapneumovirus, lighting and enrichments, Salmonella and updates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The program will also include an overview of the duck industry, along with sessions on housing, animal activism and pest control.
The program planning committee includes Oscar Garrison, United Egg Producers; Shelley Harless, Peco Foods Inc. and planning committee chair; Craig Link, Cooper Farms Inc.; Ken Martin, Fieldale Farms Corporation; Addison Murtha, National Turkey Federation; Heidi Parnin, Culver Duck Farms Inc.; Dr. Casey Ritz, University of Georgia; Travis Strickland, Farbest Foods Inc.; and Dr. Stephen Williams, Butterball LLC.
The Professional Animal Auditor Certification Organization grants 10.5 CE credit hours for this seminar. To view the full agenda, register for the Live Production, Welfare and Biosecurity Seminar and reserve your hotel room, click here or visit uspoultry.org.
